Pontevedra → Armenteira

The first stage of the Spiritual Way, departing Pontevedra toward the interior of the Rías Baixas. The path ascends through oak and chestnut forests to the Monastery of Armenteira, founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. This monastery is the key spiritual point of the route, where pilgrims stamp their credential and connect with the contemplative tradition of the Way. The climb is demanding but the natural setting makes it worthwhile.
