Finisterre and Muxía Epilogue

Easy119 km5 stages

The Camino extension from Santiago to the end of the world: Finisterre and Muxía, on the Coast of Death.

Stages(5)

1

Santiago de Compostela → Negreira

Start of the Epilogue towards the end of the world. After saying farewell to the cathedral, leave Santiago through the Sar quarter and walk along rural trails through eucalyptus forests and Galician villages. Negreira is a town with a manor house and a medieval bridge over the Tambre river.

2

Negreira → Olveiroa

A long stage through the interior of the Costa da Morte. Solitary paths through oak groves, meadows and villages with stone granaries. Pass through Vilaserio and Santa Mariña. Olveiroa is a small hamlet where the path splits: one route goes to Finisterre and another directly to Muxía.

3

Olveiroa → Finisterre

An emblematic stage towards Finis Terrae, the end of the known world. Descend to the Atlantic coast through Cee and Corcubión, charming fishing villages. The arrival at the Finisterre lighthouse facing the infinite ocean is one of the most emotional moments of the Camino. Here pilgrims symbolically burn a piece of clothing.

4

Finisterre → Muxía

A coastal connection between the two finisterres. Walk along the spectacular Galician coast with wild beaches, cliffs and small fishing villages. Muxía culminates at the Virxe da Barca sanctuary by the sea, with its magical stones that legend says move. A mystical and powerful ending.

5

Alternative: Olveiroa → Muxía

A direct alternative route from Olveiroa to Muxía without passing through Finisterre. Walk through the Costa da Morte interior among forests and villages before descending to the sea at Muxía. Ideal for those who prefer to go to Muxía first and then down to Finisterre, or for those with only one extra day after Santiago.
